17 Then thou shalt take an awl, and thrust it through his ear into the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also to thy maid-servant thou shalt do likewise.

Verse 17. Then you shall reduce these external truths to obedience, and by obedience conjoin them to truths introductory to higher states, and in this capacity they will always be serviceable to the regenerate life; and the same shall be done with the external affections.
