In Genesis 4:23, this signifies acknowledgment and confession, made where the church is. (Arcana Coelestia 427)

3684. 'And that Jacob had listened to his father and to his mother' [means obedience and affection]. This is clear from the meaning of 'listening to someone' or hearkening as obeying, dealt with in 2542. Doing so 'to father and mother' means obedience due to affection.
