After Jesus's resurrection, in the Gospel of Matthew we see the story that has become known as "The Great Commission." It is a brief story; we'll quote it here, from Matthew 28:16-20.
"But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, unto the mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying,
"All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
When we look at the inner meaning of this brief passage, what do we see? The disciples represent all people who are in a state of love and knowledge from the Lord. When the disciples go to Galilee, it means that the people who are in love and truth from the Lord are moving to new spiritual states - not the sterile states of external worship as practiced by the official Jewish church of the day, which had just rejected Jesus. They go to a mountain. In the Word, a mountain represents love to the Lord - the highest, purest love we human beings can experience. Mountains can also represent the desire for good that comes from the love of the Lord.
The disciples are ready, then - having moved to a new spiritual state with life in it, and climbed into a new love to the Lord, with a desire for good.
