Commentary

Fourth commandment

In Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16, this signifies reverence and love to God and the church. (True Christian Religion 306) In the celestial sense it signifies reverence to our Lord Jesus Christ, and the “communion of saints,” which means His church throughout the whole world. (True Christian Religion 307)
