13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: And Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son.

2787. Verse 4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar off.

'On the third day' means that which has been completed, and the beginning of sanctification. 'And Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw' means thought and insight received from the Divine. 'The place from afar off' means into the state which He foresaw.

3 Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.
