1233. Verse 23 And the sons of Aram: Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
Here, as previously, 'Aram' means cognitions of good. 'The sons of Aram' are derivative cognitions and the products of cognitions. 'Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash' were just so many types of these cognitions.
2865. 'And Bethuel begot Rebekah' means from good sprang their affection for truth. This becomes clear from the representation of Bethuel and of Rebekah, dealt with in Chapter 24 below.
