When therefore the sensory part turns away or brings a curse upon itself, fierce fighting as a consequence begins on the part of evil spirits, and labouring on that of the angels present with that person. For this reason the conflict is described as 'greatly multiplying pain in conceiving and in bearing sons', that is, in thoughts and developments of truth.
