5 ιακωβ δὲ ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἐμίανεν ὁ υἱὸς εμμωρ διναν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ ἦσαν μετὰ τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ παρεσιώπησεν δὲ ιακωβ ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν αὐτούς

4463. 'For that would be a reproach to us' means that it would be contrary to them. This is clear from the meaning of 'a reproach' as that which would be contrary to their semblance of religion and so contrary to them.
