2. Internal Meaning of Isaiah, Chapter 2

1-5 The Coming of the Lord, and a new heaven and a new church at that time, are openly treated of, (1, 12, 3)

6-9 because in the former church there is nothing but falsity and evil of falsity. (1, 3, 11)

10-18 The Coming of the Lord is openly treated of; He will destroy all who are in the love of self and in the pride of their own intelligence. (1, 3)

10, 19-21 The last judgment is openly treated of, and the casting down of the evil into hell. (15)

Commentary

 

Learn

  

'To learn,' as in Revelation 14:3, signifies an interior perception in one's self that 'it is so,' which denotes understanding. Anyone who learns anything otherwise, learns and does not learn because he does not retain what he learns.
