And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
'Words,' as in Exodus 34:28, signify everything pertaining to doctrine.

1801. 'Behold, the word of Jehovah came to him' means a reply, to the effect that the heir will not be that which forms the external part of the Church but that which forms the internal, as is clear from what follows. 'The word of Jehovah' or His reply, that is, consolation. 1
