3072. „Dieselbe hast du bestimmt deinem Knecht Jischak“,
1. Mose 24:14, daß dies die Verbindung des göttlich Wahren mit dem göttlich Guten im Vernünftigen bedeutet, erhellt aus der Bedeutung von bestimmen, nämlich zum Weibe, sofern es ist verbinden durch den Ehebund; und aus der vorbildlichen Bedeutung Jischaks, sofern er ist das göttlich Gute des Vernünftigen, wovon Nr. 3024. Daß dieselbe oder Rebecka vorbildet das göttlich Wahre, das verbunden werden soll dem göttlich Guten des Vernünftigen, wurde oben hie und da gesagt und wird aus dem einzelnen im inneren Sinn in diesem Kapitel klar.
Eyes
It's common to say “I see” when we understand something. And indeed, “seeing” in the Bible represents grasping and understanding spiritual things. So it makes sense that the eyes, which allow us to see, represent the intellect, which allows us to understand spiritual things. This can also be used in the negative, of course; the Bible speaks of people having eyes and refusing to see, and the Lord when He was in the world advised plucking out an offending eye. These represent a refusal to acknowledge truth, or being misled by falsity.
