1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and he said: Strike the hinges, and let the lintels be shook: for there is covetousness in the head of them all, and I will slay the last of them with the sword: there shall be no flight for them: they shall flee, and he that shall flee of them shall not be delivered.

62. The infernal marriage

This is when one wishes to dominate, and the other is unwilling to be subservient; this produces within internecine hatred. This was represented by things too frightful to describe. They long for nothing but the other's death and torment. They are therefore separated and live separately in hell, and in adultery, as said above (about Charles XII). 1
