3996. 'And that will be my wages' means that it was the result of His own effort. This is clear from the meaning of 'wages' as that which was his, that is to say, Jacob's, because of the service he rendered. For these words mean that the Lord achieved it by His own power, or, what amounts to the same, it was the result of His own effort, see above in 3975, 3977, 3983.
