3 και ινα τι κυριος εισαγει ημας εις την γην ταυτην πεσειν εν πολεμω αι γυναικες ημων και τα παιδια εσονται εις διαρπαγην νυν ουν βελτιον ημιν εστιν αποστραφηναι εις αιγυπτον

Verse 3. At the same time that the life of religion seems to be threatened, through falsities, with the extinction of the love of good and with the destruction of innocence, so that the tendency becomes strong to yield to the natural man by giving up the contest.
