22 Ja Herra sinun Jumalas karkottaa nämät kansat sinun edestäs, vähitellen toisen toisensa jälkeen: et sinä saa äkisti hukuttaa heitä, ettei metsän pedot lisääntyisi sinua vastaan maan päällä.

Verse 22. And the Divine Love and Wisdom will drive out the hereditary evils of the unregenerate heart by degrees; they cannot be driven out at once, for thereby the lower evil lusts would multiply upon the soul.
