¹ 耶和华的话临到毗土珥的儿子约珥。

² 老年人哪，当听我的话；国中的居民哪，都要侧耳而听。在你们的日子，或你们列祖的日子，曾有这样的事麽？

³ 你们要将这事传与子，子传与孙，孙，传与後代。

⁴ 剪虫剩下的，蝗虫来吃；蝗虫剩下的，蝻子来吃；蝻子剩下的，蚂蚱来吃。

⁵ 酒醉的人哪，要清醒哭泣；好酒的人哪，都要为甜酒哀号，因为从你们的口中断绝了。

⁶ 有一队蝗虫（原文是民）又强盛又无数，侵犯我的地；他的牙齿如狮子的牙齿，大牙如母狮的大牙。

⁷ 他毁坏我的葡萄树，剥了我无花果树的皮，剥尽而丢弃，使枝条露白。

⁸ 我的民哪，你当哀号，像处女腰束麻布，为幼年的丈夫哀号。

⁹ 素祭和奠祭从耶和华的殿中断绝；事奉耶和华的祭司都悲哀。

¹⁰ 田荒凉，地悲哀；因为五谷毁坏，新酒乾竭，油也缺乏。

¹¹ 农夫啊，你们要惭愧,修理葡萄园的啊，你们要哀号；因为大麦小麦与田间的庄稼都灭绝了。

¹² 葡萄树枯乾；无花果树衰残。石榴树、棕树、苹果树，连田野一切的树木也都枯乾；众人的喜乐尽都消灭。

¹³ 祭司啊，你们当腰束麻布痛哭；伺候祭坛的啊，你们要哀号；事奉我神的啊，你们要来披上麻布过夜，因为素祭和奠祭从你们神的殿中断绝了。

¹⁴ 你们要分定禁食的日子，宣告严肃会，招聚长老和国中的一切居民到耶和华─你们神的殿，向耶和华哀求。

¹⁵ 哀哉!耶和华的日子临近了。这日来到，好像毁灭从全能者来到。

¹⁶ 粮食不是在我们眼前断绝了吗？欢喜快乐不是从我们神的殿中止息了吗？

¹⁷ 谷种在土块下朽烂；仓也荒凉，廪也破坏；因为五谷枯乾了。

¹⁸ 牲畜哀鸣；牛群混乱，因为无草；羊群也受了困苦。

¹⁹ 耶和华啊，我向你求告，因为火烧灭旷野的草场；火焰烧尽田野的树木。

²⁰ 田野的走兽向你发喘；因为溪水乾涸，火也烧灭旷野的草场。

¹ The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.

² Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?

³ Tell ye your children of it, and let your children Tell their children, and their children another generation.

⁴ That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.

⁵ Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

⁶ For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

⁷ He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

⁸ Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

⁹ The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.

¹⁰ The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.

¹¹ Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

¹² The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

¹³ Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.

¹⁴ Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,

¹⁵ Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

¹⁶ Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

¹⁷ The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

¹⁸ How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

¹⁹ O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

²⁰ The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
