And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, When you have come to the land of your dwellings, which I give to you,

and will make a fire··offering to Jehovah, a burnt··offering or a sacrifice, for a special vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn··occasions, to make a restful smell to Jehovah, from the herd, or from the flock;

then he who offers his offering to Jehovah shall offer a gift··offering of a tenth of flour mixed with the fourth of a hin of oil.

And the fourth part of a hin of wine for a poured··offering shalt thou make with the burnt··offering or sacrifice, for one lamb.

Or for a ram, thou shalt make for a gift··offering two tenths of flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil.

And for a poured··offering thou shalt offer a third of a hin of wine, for a restful smell to Jehovah.

And when thou makest the young of the herd for a burnt··offering, or for a sacrifice to make··a··special vow, or for peace··offerings to Jehovah,

then he shall offer upon a son of the herd a gift··offering of three tenths of flour mixed with half a hin of oil.

And thou shalt offer for a poured··offering half a hin of wine, a fire··offering, a restful smell to Jehovah.

In··this··manner shall it be done for one ox, or for one ram, or for an animal··of··the··flock among the lambs or among the goats.

According··to the number that you shall make, so you shall make for every one according··to their number.

Every native of the country shall do these things in··this··manner, to offer a fire··offering, a restful smell to Jehovah.

And when a sojourner sojourn with you, or whoever be in your midst for your generations, and will make a fire··offering, a restful smell to Jehovah, as you do, so he shall do.

One statute shall be for you of the assembly, and also for the sojourner who sojourns with you, an eternal statute for your generations; as you are, so shall the sojourner be before Jehovah.

One law and One judgment shall be for you, and for the sojourner who sojourns with you.

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, When you come into the land whither I bring you,

then it shall be, that, when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall lift··up an uplifting to Jehovah.

You shall lift··up a cake of the first of your dough for an uplifting; as you do the uplifting of the threshing··floor, so you shall lift· it ·up.

From the first of your dough you shall give to Jehovah an uplifting for your generations.

And if you have erred, and not done all these commandments, which Jehovah has spoken to Moses,

Even all that Jehovah has commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that Jehovah commanded it, and beyond unto your generations;

then it shall be, if anything be done by ignorance away from the eyes of the congregation, that all the congregation shall make one bullock, a son of the herd, for a burnt··offering, for a restful smell to Jehovah, with its gift··offering, and its poured··offering, according··to the judgment, and one male goat of the goats for a sin offering.

And the priest shall make··atonement for all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and it shall be pardoned them; for it is ignorance; and they shall bring their offering, a fire··offering to Jehovah, and their sin offering before Jehovah, for their ignorance,

and it shall be pardoned to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and the sojourner who sojourns among them; because all the people were in ignorance.

And if a certain soul sin by ignorance, then he shall offer a she-goat, a daughter of a year for a sin offering.

And the priest shall make··atonement for the soul who sins being··ignorant, when he sins in ignorance before Jehovah, to make··atonement for him; and it shall be pardoned to him.

You shall have one law for him who does something by ignorance, for the native among the sons of Israel, and for the sojourner who sojourns in their midst.

But the soul who does anything with a high hand, from the native and from the sojourner, he blasphemes Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut··off from among his people.

Because he despises the word of Jehovah, and has made· His commandment ·of··none··effect, that soul being cut··off shall be cut··off; her iniquity shall be upon her.

And the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, and they found a man gathering··up wood on the Sabbath day.

And they who found him gathering··up wood offered him to Moses and unto Aaron, and to all the congregation.

And they placed him under guard, for it was not made··clear what should be done to him.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Dying the man shall be made to die; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.

And all the congregation brought· him ·out to outside the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

And Jehovah said to Moses, saying,

Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them that they make for themselves fringes on the wings of their garments unto their generations, and that they put on the fringe of the wing a strand of blue;

and it shall be to you for a fringe, that you may see it, and remember all the commandments of Jehovah, and do them; and that you explore not after your own heart and after your own eyes, after which you committed··harlotry;

so··that you may remember, and do all My commandments, and be holy to your God.

I am Jehovah your God, who brought· you ·out of the land of Egypt, to be your God; I am Jehovah your God.

Ancients

Ancients of the people, and the princes thereof ('Isaiah 3:14'), have a similar signification with the twelve disciples.

851. And with Him a hundred forty-four thousand, signifies according to truths in the whole complex. This is evident from the signification of a "hundred forty-four thousand," as being truths in the whole complex (See above n. 430. These words of the Lord to His twelve disciples have a like signification:

Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye that have followed Me in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of His glory ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel (Matthew 19:28).

This does not mean that the twelve disciples were to sit upon twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel, but it means that the Lord is to judge all according to truths from good, which are from Him, for "the twelve disciples" signify all who are of the church, and in an abstract sense all things of the church, which are truths from good. (But this may be seen explained above, n. 9, 206, 253, 270, 297, 430).

[2] "Elders and princes" have a like signification in Isaiah:

Jehovah hath stood up to plead, and standeth to judge the peoples. Jehovah will come to judgment with the elders of His people and the princes thereof (Isaiah 3:13, 14).

"The elders of the people and the princes thereof" have a similar signification as the twelve disciples, namely, all belonging to the church who are in its truths and goods, and in an abstract sense the truths and goods of the church in the whole complex. (That this is the signification of "elders" see above, n. 270; also of "princes," n. 29, 408).

[3] "A hundred forty-four thousand" means truths in the whole complex, because that number has a similar signification as the number "twelve" and "twelve" signifies truths and goods in the whole complex. "A hundred forty-four thousand" has a similar signification as twelve because composite numbers have a similar signification as the simple numbers from which they arise by multiplication; and the number one hundred forty-four arises from the multiplication of twelve by twelve. Again, one hundred forty-four thousand has a similar signification as one hundred forty-four. But on this see many things that were said in the explanation of the seventh chapter, which treats of the twelve thousand sealed out of each tribe, and the one hundred forty-four thousand sealed out of all the tribes together.
