31 e nel deserto, dove tu hai veduto come il Signore Iddio vostro ti ha portato, come un uomo porterebbe il suo figliuolo, per tutto il cammino che avete fatto, finchè siate arrivati in questo luogo.

To many Protestant and Evangelical Italians, the Bibles translated by Giovanni Diodati are an important part of their history. Diodati’s first Italian Bible edition was printed in 1607, and his second in 1641. He died in 1649. Throughout the 1800s two editions of Diodati’s text were printed by the British Foreign Bible Society. This is the more recent 1894 edition, translated by Claudiana.

Bed of ivory

'Beds of ivory' are the pleasures of the lowest part of the natural. 'Feeling no grief over the ruin of Joseph' stands for feeling no concern at all that good from the internal has been reduced to nothing. (Arcana Coelestia 6188)

In Amos 6:4, "beds of ivory" stand for doctrines seemingly from rational truths, and "to stretch themselves upon their couches" being to reason in favor of these from falsities.(Apocalypse Explained 1146[3])
