Day of Atonement – How to Approach God

People are generally familiar with the idea of "spring cleaning" where once a year we do a more thorough cleaning of the stuff that has built up over time. That same practice is also good for our spiritual life, and God gives us a ritual called the "Day of Atonement" that tells us how we are to do this yearly repentance. This process is intense as we have to put aside a lot that is dear to us as we approach God and try to replace the things we love with the things He loves.
