2392. That “whomsoever thou hast in the city,” denotes whatever derives anything from truth, is evident from the signification of a “city,” as being what is doctrinal, thus truth in its complex (see n. 402, 2268).

2267. Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous. That this signifies if there should be somewhat less, is evident from the signification of “five,” as being a little, or less (in regard to which signification of this number, see Part First,n. 649).
