And she called his name Joseph, saying, Let Jehovah add to me another son. “And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her,” signifies foresight and providence; “and opened her womb,” signifies the capacity to receive and acknowledge; “and she conceived, and bare a son,” signifies reception and acknowledgment; “and said, God hath gathered my reproach; and she called his name Joseph, saying, Let Jehovah add to me another son,” signifies in the supreme sense the Lord as to the Divine spiritual; in the internal sense, the spiritual kingdom, or the good of faith; and in the external sense, salvation, also fructification and multiplication.
