เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้ปรนนิบัติประชาชนอยู่หน้ารูปเคารพของเขา จึงทำให้วงศ์วานอิสราเอลตกอยู่ในความชั่วช้า องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสว่า เพราะฉะนั้นเราจึงได้ปฏิญาณด้วยเรื่องเขาทั้งหลายว่า เขาทั้งหลายจะต้องได้รับโทษความชั่วช้าของเขา
