903. Verses 15-16 And God spoke to Noah, saying, Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons' wives with you.

'God spoke to Noah' means the Lord's presence with the member of this Church. 'Going out of the ark' means freedom. 'You and your wife means the Church. 'Your sons and your sons' wives with you' means truths, and goods joined to truths, residing with him.

A 'void', or 'Vacuity' denotes a person's state before regeneration. From Arcana Coelestia 7: "The first state is the state which precedes, both the state existing from earliest childhood onwards and that existing immediately before regeneration; and it is called a void, emptiness, and thick darkness.

In Genesis 1:2, this signifies lacking good, as with man's state before regeneration. (Arcana Coelestia 17)
