²³ And Elkanah her husband^◦ said to her, Do what is good in thine eyes. Stay^* until thou have weaned him. Surely Jehovah will raise·​·up His word. And the woman stayed^* and nursed her son until she weaned him.

^{8 9} But if, on the day her husband^◦ heard, he disallowed her, then he shall make·​·of·​·none·​·effect her vow which was upon her, and the pronouncement of her lips, which she bound upon her soul; and Jehovah shall pardon her.
