8699. Wearing thou wilt wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee. That this signifies that thus the truth which has been implanted would perish, is evident from the signification of “wearing away,” as being to be gradually consumed, thus to perish. That it denotes the truth which has been implanted, is because by “Moses” is meant truth from the Divine, and by “the people” those who receive.
