Peradventure there be fifty righteous in the midst of the city; wilt Thou also destroy and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous that are in the midst of it? “Peradventure there be fifty righteous in the midst of the city,” signifies that possibly the truths may be full of goods; “wilt Thou also destroy and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous that are in the midst of it?” signifies intercession from love, that in such case they should not perish.
