The king spake and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?

And I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales; and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, with all the fish of thy rivers which stick unto thy scales.
1303. That 'they said' means that this was done follows from the train of thought, just as the previous statement that 'they said, one man to the next' meant that it was started. Indeed this verse, by the tower, describes what Babel was like.
