14 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ἐκεῖ ἵππον καὶ ἅρμα καὶ δύναμιν βαρεῖαν καὶ ἦλθον νυκτὸς καὶ περιεκύκλωσαν τὴν πόλιν

Verse 14. And to these the natural man opposes his intellectual powers, his false doctrines, and all the corrupted affections and falsities of the external man, when Divine Truth is in obscurity and spiritual darkness prevails; so that true doctrine appears to be surrounded and overcome.
