¹ 當人在世上多起來又生女兒的時候，

² 神的兒子們看見人的女子美貌，就隨意挑選，娶來為妻。

³ 耶和華說：人既屬乎血氣，我的靈就不永遠住在他裡面；然而他的日子還可到一百二十年。

⁴ 那時候有偉人在地上，後來神的兒子們和人的女子們交合生子；那就是上古英武有名的人。

⁵ 耶和華見人在地上罪惡很大，終日所思想的盡都是惡，

⁶ 耶和華就後悔造人在地上，心中憂傷。

⁷ 耶和華說：我要將所造的人和走獸，並昆蟲，以及空中的飛鳥，都從地上除滅，因為我造他們後悔了。

⁸ 惟有挪亞在耶和華眼前蒙恩。

⁹ 挪亞的後代記在下面。挪亞是個義人，在當時的世代是個完全人。挪亞與神同行。

¹⁰ 挪亞生了三個兒子，就是閃、含、雅弗。

¹¹ 世界在神面前敗壞，地上滿了強暴.。

¹² 神觀看世界，見是敗壞了；凡有血氣的人在地上.都敗壞了行為。

¹³ 神就對挪亞說：凡有血氣的人，他的盡頭已經來到我面前；因為地上滿了他們的強暴，我要把他們和地一併毀滅。

¹⁴ 你要用歌斐木造一隻方舟，分一間一間地造，裡外抹上松香。

¹⁵ 方舟的造法乃是這樣：要長三百肘，寬五十肘，高三十肘。

¹⁶ 方舟上邊要留透光處，高一肘。方舟的門要開在旁邊。方舟要分上、中、下三層。

¹⁷ 看哪，我要使洪水氾濫在地上，毀滅天下；凡地上有血肉、有氣息的活物，無一不死。

¹⁸ 我卻要與你立約；你同你的妻，與兒子兒婦，都要進入方舟。

¹⁹ 凡有血肉的活物，每樣兩個，一公一母，你要帶進方舟，好在你那裡保全生命。

²⁰ 飛鳥各從其類，牲畜各從其類，地上的昆蟲各從其類，每樣兩個，要到你那裡，好保全生命。

²¹ 你要拿各樣食物積蓄起來，好作你和他們的食物。

²² 挪亞就這樣行。凡神所吩咐的，他都照樣行了。

¹ Now Yahweh said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you.

² I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

³ I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you."

⁴ So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.

⁵ Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.

⁶ Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.

⁷ Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, "I will give this land to your seed." He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.

⁸ He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh.

⁹ Abram traveled, going on still toward the South.

¹⁰ There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.

¹¹ It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.

¹² It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife.' They will kill me, but they will save you alive.

¹³ Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you."

¹⁴ It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.

¹⁵ The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

¹⁶ He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

¹⁷ Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

¹⁸ Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why didn't you tell me that she was your wife?

¹⁹ Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way."

²⁰ Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they brought him on the way with his wife and all that he had.
