1 Ora, Naamã, chefe do exército do rei da Síria, era um grande homem diante do seu senhor, e de muito respeito, porque por ele o senhor dera livramento aos sírios; era homem valente, porém leproso.

Verse 1. The rational faculty of the natural man, who is in the love of knowledge, is greatly valued by him, and much beloved, since it is the means whereby he keeps in subjection his lower passions: for the rational man is skilful in argument and bold; nevertheless he profanes the truth he acquires by using it for selfish purposes.
