10542. 'And the children of Israel tore away their finery' means that they were deprived of Divine Truth in external things. This is clear from the meaning of 'tearing away' as being stripped and deprived of; and from the meaning of 'finery' as holy truth, or what is Divine, dealt with in 10536, 10540.
