Genesi 37:5
To many Protestant and Evangelical Italians, the Bibles translated by Giovanni Diodati are an important part of their history. Diodati’s first Italian Bible edition was printed in 1607, and his second in 1641. He died in 1649. Throughout the 1800s two editions of Diodati’s text were printed by the British Foreign Bible Society. This is the more recent 1894 edition, translated by Claudiana.
Arcana Coelestia#4703
4703. 'And his father kept the matter [in mind]' means that truth remained within their semblance of religion. This is clear from the meaning here of 'father' as the Jewish religion, an offspring of ancient religion, dealt with above in 4700; from the meaning of 'keeping' as preserving within, and so as remaining; and from the meaning of 'word' as truth, dealt with above in 4692. What else is meant by the statement that truth remained within their semblance of religion, see above in 4700.
