'To hearken,' as mentioned in Genesis 30:22, signifies providence. 'To hearken to father and mother,' as mentioned in Genesis 28:7, signifies obedience from affection.

4291. In the internal historical sense 'he said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob' means that they were the descendants of Jacob - together with their essential nature.
