¹ ထိုနောက် ဘုရားသခင်က၊ သင်ထ၍ဗေသလ အရပ်သို့ သွားနေလော့။ သင်သည် အစ်ကိုဧသောထံမှ ပြေးသောအခါ၊ သင့်အား ထင်ရှားသော ဘုရားသခင် အဘို့၊ ထိုအရပ်၌ ယဇ်ပလ္လင်ကို တည်လော့ဟု၊ ယာကုပ် အား မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

² ထိုအခါယာကုပ်သည် အိမ်သူအိမ်သားများနှင့်၊ မိမိ၌ရှိသောသူအပေါင်းတို့ကို ခေါ်၍၊ သင်တို့တွင် ပါသော၊ တပါးအမျိုးသားတို့၏ ဘုရားတို့ကို ပယ်ပစ် ကြလော့။ အဝတ်ကို လဲ၍ သန့်ရှင်းခြင်း ရှိစေကြလော့။

³ ယခုထ၍ ဗေသလအရပ်သို့သွားကြစို့။ ငါသည် ဆင်းရဲခံရသောကာလ ငါ့ကိုထူး၍၊ ငါသွားသောလမ်း၌ ကြွတော်မူသော ဘုရားသခင်အဘို့ ထိုအရပ်၌ ယဇ်ပလ္လင် ကို ငါတည်မည်ဟု ဆိုလေ၏။

⁴ သူတို့သည်လည်း၊ မိမိတို့၌ပါသော တပါး အမျိုးသားတို့၏ ဘုရားအပေါင်းတို့နှင့်၊ နား၌ပန်သော နားပန်တန်ဆာ ရှိသမျှတို့ကို၊ ယာကုပ်အားပေး၍၊ ယာကုပ်လည်း၊ ရှေခင်မြို့နားတွင် ရှိသော သပိတ်ပင် အောက်၌ မြှုပ်ထားလေ၏။

⁵ သူတို့ပြောင်းသွား ကြသောအခါ၊ပတ်ဝန်းကျင် မြို့သားတို့သည်၊ ဘုရားသခင်ကို ကြောက်ရွံ့၍၊ ယာကုပ် သားတို့ကို မလိုက်ဝံ့ဘဲနေကြ၏။

⁶ ယာကုပ်သည် မိမိ၌ပါသော သူအပေါင်းနှင့် တကွ၊ ခါနာန်ပြည် လုဇမြို့တည်းဟူသော၊ ဗေသလ အရပ်သို့ ရောက်ကြသော်၊

⁷ ယဇ်ပလ္လင်ကိုတည်၍၊ ထိုအရပ်ကို ဗေသလ အမည်ဖြင့် တဖန် သမုတ်ပြန်လေ၏။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ အစ်ကိုထံမှ ပြေးသောအခါ၊ ထိုအရပ်၌ ဘုရားသခင် ထင်ရှားတော်မူသတည်း။

⁸ ရေဗက္က၏အထိန်း ဒေဗောရသေ၍၊ ဗေသလ အရပ်၌ သပိတ်ပင်အောက်တွင် သင်္ဂြိုဟ်ခြင်းကို ခံရလေ ၏။ ထိုအပင်ကို အာလုမ္ဘာကုတ်ဟူ၍ တွင်သတည်း။

⁹ ယာကုပ်သည် ပါဒနာရံအရပ်မှ ပြန်လာသော နောက်၊ တဖန်ဘုရားသခင်ထင်ရှား၍ ကောင်းကြီးပေး တော်မူပြီးလျှင်၊

¹⁰ သင်သည် ယခုယာကုပ်အမည်ရှိ၏။ နောင်၌ သင်၏အမည်ကို ယာကုပ်ဟူ၍မခေါ်ရ။ ဣသရေလဟူ ၍ ခေါ်ရမည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူလျက် ဣသရေလအမည်ဖြင့် သမုတ်တော်မူ၏။

¹¹ တဖန် ဘုရားသခင်က၊ငါသည် အနန္တတန်ခိုး ရှင် ဘုရားသခင် ဖြစ်၏။ တိုးပွါးများပြားလော့။ လူတမျိုး မက၊ အမျိုးမျိုးတို့သည် သင်၌ဖြစ်ကြလိမ့်မည်။ ရှင်ဘုရင်တို့သည် သင်၏ အမျိုးအနွယ်၌ ဖြစ်ကြလိမ့်မည်။

¹² အာဗြဟံနှင့် ဣဇာက်အား ငါပေးသောမြေကို သင်နှင့်သင်၏ အမျိုးအနွယ်အား ငါပေးမည်ဟု မိန့်တော် မူ၏။

¹³ ထိုသို့ ယာကုပ်နှင့်နှုတ်ဆက်၍ မိန့်မြွက်တော်မူ ရာအရပ်မှ၊ ဘုရားသခင် တက်ကြွတော်မူ၏။

¹⁴ ဘုရားသခင်နှုတ်ဆက်၍ မိန့်မြွက်တော်မူရာ အရပ်၌၊ ယာကုပ်သည် ကျောက်တိုင်ကို စိုက်၍၊ ကျောက် ဖျာပေါ်၌ သွန်းလောင်းရာ ပူဇော်သက္ကာကို၎င်း၊ ဆီကို ၎င်း လောင်းလေ၏။

¹⁵ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကို ခံရသောထိုအရပ်ကိုလည်း၊ ဗေသလဟူ၍ တဖန်သမုတ်ပြန်လေ၏။

¹⁶ ထိုနောက်တဖန် ဗေသလအရပ်မှ ခရီးသွား ပြန်၍၊ ဧဖရတ်မြို့နှင့် နီးသောအခါ၊ ရာခေလသည် သား ဘွားအံ့သောအချိန် ရောက်၍၊ ပြင်းစွာသော ဝေဒနာကို ခံရ၏။

¹⁷ ထိုသို့ပြင်းစွာ ခံနေရစဉ်တွင်၊ ဝမ်းဆွဲက၊ မစိုးရိမ် နှင့်၊ သားယောက်ျားကို ရပြီဟုဆိုလေ၏။

¹⁸ ရာခေလသည် သေအံ့ဆဲဆဲရှိ၍၊ နံဝိညာဉ် ထွက်စဉ်အခါ၊ ထိုသားကို ဗေနောနိအမည်ဖြင့် မှည့်လေ ၏။ အဘမူကား ဗင်္ယာမိန်အမည်ဖြင့် မှည့်သတည်း။

¹⁹ ရာခေလသေ၍၊ ဗက်လင်အမည်ရှိသော ဧဖရတ်မြို့သို့ သွားသော လမ်းခရီးတွင်၊ သင်္ဂြိုဟ်ခြင်းကို ခံလေ၏။

²⁰ ယာကုပ်လည်း သင်္ချိုင်းအပေါ်မှာ မှတ်တိုင်ကို စိုက်လေ၏။ ထိုမှတ်တိုင်ကား၊ ယနေ့တိုင်အောင် ရာခေလ၏ သင်္ချိုင်းမှတ်တိုင် ဖြစ်သတည်။

²¹ ဣသရေလသည် တဖန်ခရီးသွားပြန်၍၊ ဧဒါလင့်စင်ကိုလွန်ပြီးမှ တဲကိုဆောက်လေ၏။

²² ထိုအရပ်၌နေသောအခါ၊ ရုဗင်သည်သွား၍ အဘ၏မယားငယ်၊ ဗိလဟာနှင့် အိပ်လေ၏။ ထိုသတင်း ကို ဣသရေလကြား၏။

²³ ယာကုပ်သား တကျိပ်နှစ်ပါးရှိ၏။ လေအာတွင် မြင်သော သားကား၊ ယာကုပ်၏သားဦး ရုဗင်၊ အစရှိသော ရှိမောင်၊ လေဝိ၊ယုဒ၊ ဣသခါ၊ ဇာဗုလုန်တည်း။

²⁴ ရာခေလသားကား၊ ယောသပ်နှင့် ဗင်္ယာမိန် တည်း။

²⁵ ရာခေလ၏ ကျွန်မ ဗိလဟာ သားကား၊ ဒန်နှင့် နဿလိတည်း။

²⁶ လေအာ၏ ကျွန်မ ဇိလပ သားကား၊ ဂဒ်နှင့် အာရှာတည်း။ ဤသူတို့ကား၊ ပါဒနာရံပြည်၌ ဘွားမြင် သော ယာကုပ်၏သားများတည်း။

²⁷ ထိုနောက် ယာကုပ်သည် အာဗြဟံနှင့်ဣဇာက် တည်းခိုရာ၊ မံရေအရပ်၊ ဟေဗြုန်မြို့တည်းဟူသော ကိရယသာဘမြို့၌နေသော၊ အဘဣဇာက်ထံသို့ ရောက် လေ၏။

²⁸ ဣဇာက် အသက်သည် အနှစ်တရာရှစ်ဆယ်နှင့် ပြည့်စုံသည်ရှိသော်၊

²⁹ အသက်ကြီးရင့်ရာ၊ ကာလပြည့်စုံရာ၌ အသက် ချုပ်၍ အနိစ္စဖြစ်သဖြင့်၊ မိမိလူမျိုး စည်းဝေးရာသို့ ရောက် လေ၏။ သားဧသောနှင့် ယာကုပ်တို့သည် သင်္ဂြိုဟ်ကြ၏။

¹ Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.

² She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

³ Jokshan became the father of Sheba, and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.

⁴ The sons of Midian: Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

⁵ Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac,

⁶ but to the sons of Abraham's concubines, Abraham gave gifts. He sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, to the east country.

⁷ These are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: one hundred seventy-five years.

⁸ Abraham gave up the spirit, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people.

⁹ Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre,

¹⁰ the field which Abraham purchased of the children of Heth. Abraham was buried there with Sarah, his wife.

¹¹ It happened after the death of Abraham that God blessed Isaac, his son. Isaac lived by Beer Lahai Roi.

¹² Now this is the history of the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bore to Abraham.

¹³ These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to the order of their birth: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

¹⁴ Mishma, Dumah, Massa,

¹⁵ Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

¹⁶ These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their villages, and by their encampments: twelve princes, according to their nations.

¹⁷ These are the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred thirty-seven years. He gave up the spirit and died, and was gathered to his people.

¹⁸ They lived from Havilah to Shur that is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria. He lived opposite all his relatives.

¹⁹ This is the history of the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham became the father of Isaac.

²⁰ Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian, to be his wife.

²¹ Isaac entreated Yahweh for his wife, because she was barren. Yahweh was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

²² The children struggled together within her. She said, "If it be so, why do I live?" She went to inquire of Yahweh.

²³ Yahweh said to her, "Two nations are in your womb. Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger."

²⁴ When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

²⁵ The first came out red all over, like a hairy garment. They named him Esau.

²⁶ After that, his brother came out, and his hand had hold on Esau's heel. He was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

²⁷ The boys grew. Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.

²⁸ Now Isaac loved Esau, because he ate his venison. Rebekah loved Jacob.

²⁹ Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.

³⁰ Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.

³¹ Jacob said, "First, sell me your birthright."

³² Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?"

³³ Jacob said, "Swear to me first." He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob.

³⁴ Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.
