For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up my hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savor, and poured out there their drink-offerings.
9. 7. The Lord who is a living stone, rejected by men, chosen of God, precious, that ye also as living stones may be built up into a spiritual house, to the unbelieving He is a stone of stumbling (1 Peter 2:4-8).
Acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5). He is called the Shepherd and Bishop of souls (1 Peter 2:25).

Ancients of the people, and the princes thereof ('Isaiah 3:14'), have a similar signification with the twelve disciples.
