Look
'Look not back behind thee,' as in Genesis 19:17, means that Lot, who represents the good of charity, should not look to matters of doctrine. 'To look up,' is to look to celestial things. In Genesis 18:22, looking signifies thinking because seeing denotes understanding.

The two forms seem opposites, but while the Manuscript agrees better with Arcana Coelestia n. 4728, 4757 and 4758it should be noted that the First Latin Edition’s version is probably due to the doctrine that the Lord’s Advent (i. e. , the coming of Divine with) takes place when there is no longer any faith in the church'.
