Annunciations

In Numbers 21:14 Moses refers to an even older book, the book of 'The Wars of Jehovah'. Then, in Numbers 21:27, he mentions another ancient source, which has sometimes been translated 'Annunciations', or 'Enunciations', and then quotes from it.

Swedenborg says that these are fragments from what he terms "The Ancient Word", a written work that pre-dated the Bible. It was written using correspondences, and was widely known in parts of Asia and the Middle East. He also says that the first 12 chapters of Genesis are remnants of that book. In Swedenborg's day, this Ancient Word was still preserved in some form by people in Great Tartary. (See True Christian Religion 266, 279, 852, Conjugial Love 77, and Apocalypse Revealed 11.)
