9347. 'When you serve their gods' means if worship is kindled by falsities. This is clear from the meaning of 'serving' as worship, dealt with in 7934, 8057; and from the meaning of 'gods' as falsities, dealt with in 4544, 7873, 8367, 8941.

8057. 'That you shall keep this service in this month' means everlasting worship of the Lord because of His deliverance. This is clear from the meaning of 'service' as worship, as in 7934; and from the meaning of 'month' as the end of the previous state and the beginning of the new one, and of 'the month of Abib' as the beginning from which all following states ensue, dealt with in 8053. Therefore also 'month' means that which is everlasting.
