That this signifies all things that belong to purification from evils and falsities, and to regeneration, by the Lord, is evident from the signification of “the laver,” in which washing was performed, as being a means of purification from evils and falsities, and also of regeneration (see n. 10235); and from the signification of its “base,” as being the sensuous that supports and ministers (n. 10236).
