621. 经上说地由于其可怖的信念而 “败坏” 了, 由于其污秽的欲望而 “满了强暴”, 这一点从从动词 “败坏” 和名词 “强暴” 的含义明显看出来. 在圣言中, 一个词从不会被拿来当成另一个词, 而是毫无例外, 都是用准确的那一个来恰当表达所讨论的问题; 其用词如此精准, 以至于单单通过所用的词语, 内义就立马显现出来, 如此处的 “败坏” 和 “强暴” 两个词. 一旦觉知荒凉, 就预示着觉知之物要 “败坏”, 而一旦意愿荒废, 则预示着意愿之物会满了 “强暴”. 因此, “败坏” 涉及信念, “强暴” 涉及恶欲.

Flesh signifies man, and spirit signifies the influx of truth and goodness from the Lord, as in Joel 2:28. In Isaiah 31:3, flesh signifies what is man's own, and spirit life from the Lord. To eat the flesh of another signifies to destroy his proprium.
