Miqueas 1

Studie

1 Palabra del SEÑOR que vino a Miqueas de Moreset en días de Jotam, Acaz, y Ezequías, reyes de Judá; lo que vio sobre Samaria y Jerusalén.

2 Oíd, pueblos todos: está atenta, tierra, y todo lo que en ella hay; y el Señor DIOS, el Señor desde su santo templo sea testigo contra vosotros.

3 Porque he aquí, el SEÑOR sale de su lugar, y descenderá, y hollará sobre las alturas de la tierra.

4 Y debajo de él se derretirán los montes, y los valles se hendirán como la cera delante del fuego, como las aguas que corren cuesta abajo.

5 Todo esto por la rebelión de Jacob, y por los pecados de la casa de Israel. ¿Cuál es la rebelión de Jacob? ¿No es Samaria? ¿Y cuáles son los lugares altos de Judá? ¿No es Jerusalén?

6 Pondré, pues, a Samaria en montones de campo, en tierra de viñas; y derramaré sus piedras por el valle, y descubriré sus fundamentos.

7 Y todas sus esculturas serán despedazadas, y todos sus dones serán quemados en fuego, y asolaré todos sus ídolos; porque de dones de rameras se juntó, y a dones de rameras volverán.

8 Por tanto lamentaré y aullaré, y andaré despojado y desnudo; haré gemido como de dragones, y lamento como de los hijos del avestruz.

9 Porque su llaga es dolorosa, que llegó hasta Judá; llegó hasta la puerta de mi pueblo, hasta Jerusalén.

10 No lo digáis en Gat, ni lloréis mucho; revuélcate en el polvo por Bet-le-afra.

11 Pásate desnuda con vergüenza, oh moradora de Safir: la moradora de Zaanán no salió al llanto de Betesel; tomará de vosotros su tardanza.

12 Porque la moradora de Marot tuvo dolor por el bien; por cuanto el mal descendió del SEÑOR hasta la puerta de Jerusalén.

13 Uncid al carro dromedarios, oh moradora de Laquis, que fuiste principio de pecado a la hija de Sion; porque en ti se inventaron las rebeliones de Israel.

14 Por tanto, tú darás dones a Moreset-gat; las casas de Aczib serán en mentira a los reyes de Israel.

15 Aun te traeré heredero, oh moradora de Maresa; la gloria de Israel vendrá hasta Adulam.

16 Mésate y trasquílate por los hijos de tus delicias; ensancha tu calvicie como águila; porque fueron transportados de ti.

Iniquity, transgression and sin

  

In the Word three terms are used to refer to bad actions: transgression, iniquity, and sin. Transgression is the least bad. It means a violation of what is true in an external context, a violation of what is right and orderly. Iniquity is next and denotes acts that violate more interior truths. Sin is the worst. It is a violation of what is holy and righteous, a violation against the Lord. Sin is the deepest kind of evil. Regarding iniquity -- to be in charity, or live a life of charity is to live a life where the acts and thoughts that have top priority are those that have within them a love for the neighbor. Sometimes our love of self, our inborn desire to put ourselves first, is stronger than our charity and we do something for ourselves at the expense of our neighbor, or even do harm to our neighbor. Such an act, if our motive is selfish, is an iniquity.

9286. 'Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year' means enduring worship of the Lord and thanksgiving on account of deliverance from damnation. This is clear from the meaning of 'keeping a feast' or 'holding a feast' as worshipping the Lord with gladness of mind on account of deliverance from damnation, dealt with in 7093; and from the meaning of 'three times in the year' as a state complete right to its end, for 'three' means complete from the beginning to the end, 2788, 4495, 7715, 9198, and 'year' a whole period, 2906, 7839, 8070. At this point therefore complete and whole deliverance is meant; for 'the feast of unleavened bread' means purification from falsities, 'the feast of harvest' means the planting of truth in good, and 'the feast of ingathering' means the implanting of good from there. Thus complete deliverance from damnation is meant by these feasts; for when a person has been purified from falsities, and after this has been brought by means of truths into good, and is at length governed by good, he is in heaven with the Lord and has accordingly undergone complete deliverance.

[2] The consecutive stages of deliverance from damnation are like the consecutive stages of regeneration; for regeneration is deliverance by the Lord from hell and being led by Him into heaven. For a person who is being regenerated is first purified from falsities, after that the truths of faith he knows are planted in the good of charity, and finally that good itself is implanted in him. When all this has been done the person has been regenerated and he is then in heaven with the Lord. Therefore the three feasts in the year also meant worship of the Lord and thanksgiving on account of regeneration. Because these feasts were established on account of the everlasting remembrance of those things, the worship and thanksgiving are called enduring; for the most important things in worship should endure forever. The things which should endure forever are those which have been inscribed not only on the memory but also on the actual life that is led. When this is so they are said to reign universally with a person, see 5949, 6159, 6571, 8853-8858, 8865.
