Terah

In Genesis 11:24, Terah, Abraham's father, as a nation represents idolatrous worship. (Arcana Coelestia 1353)

In Genesis 11:31, when Terah leaves Ur for Haran, partway to Canaan, it signifies that people who were in idolatrous worship were instructed in the celestial and spiritual things of faith, so that a representative church could arise from them. (Arcana Coelestia 1373)

In Joshua 24:2, it notes that Terah served other gods. In Arcana Coelestia 5628[2] there are interesting details about this. Abraham's ancestors worshipped 'God Shaddai', which name connotes temptations and, after hardship, comfort.
