40 Et ecce mane primo surgentes ascenderunt verticem montis, atque dixerunt : Parati sumus ascendere ad locum, de quo Dominus locutus est : quia peccavimus.

Verse 40. And secondly, in a state of external illustration, and in the excitement of selfish fear, they are willing to be obedient, and outwardly, at least, to adopt the heavenly life, and forsake their sin.
