The Inner Meaning of the Prophets and Psalms # 112
112. Internal Meaning of Jeremiah, Chapter 46
The natural of man will perish by reasonings from knowledges [scientifica]. (3)
1-6 All such knowledges are no longer of any avail, because they have been destroyed by means of reasonings. (3)
7-10 Pride in these will be lowered, and they will become falsities. (3)
11-12 They cannot be healed, because the church has been destroyed by means of these falsities. (3, 15)
13-19 The whole natural perishes, nor is there anything there but falsity and evil. (3)
20-24 All its learning which confirms falsities will perish. (3, 11)
25-26 The like will happen to others who trust in knowledges [scientifica]. (3, 11)
27-28 It is otherwise with those who are in spiritual captivity, who will constitute the church. (11, 11)
Jeremiah 46:7-10
7
Who is this who rises up like the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers?
8
Egypt rises up like the Nile, and his waters toss themselves like the rivers: and he says, I will rise up, I will cover the earth; I will destroy cities and its inhabitants.
9
Go up, you horses; and rage, you chariots; and let the mighty men go forth: Cush and Put, who handle the shield; and the Ludim, who handle and bend the bow.
10
For that day is [a day] of the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
