That this signifies truth, is evident from the signification of “brother,” as being good, and also truth, for these are called “brothers.” That charity is the “brother” of faith, or good the “brother” of truth, may be seen above (n. 367 on the other hand faith is the “brother” of charity, or truth the “brother” of good; also in the natural, the affection of good is called “brother,” and the affection of truth “sister” (n. 3160); likewise, “husband and wife,” and “man [vir] and woman;” but these always relatively to the states treated of.
