This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation; but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
1309. 'Lest perhaps we are scattered over the face 1 of the whole earth' means that otherwise they would not receive recognition. This follows from what is said above, for 'being scattered over the face 1 of the whole earth' is disappearing from their sight, and so not being accepted and acknowledged.
