É comum dizer "eu vejo" quando entendemos algo. E de fato, "ver" na Bíblia representa agarrar e entender coisas espirituais. Portanto, faz sentido que os olhos, que nos permitem ver, representem o intelecto, que nos permite compreender as coisas espirituais.

Isto também pode ser usado no negativo, é claro; a Bíblia fala de pessoas tendo olhos e se recusando a ver, e o Senhor quando Ele estava no mundo aconselhou a arrancar um olho ofensivo. Estes representam uma recusa em reconhecer a verdade, ou ser enganado pela falsidade.

1806. ‘Levando-o para fora’; que signifique a vista do Homem Interior, que, pelos externos, vê os internos, é o que se pode constatar pela significação de ‘levar para fora’ e, ao mesmo tempo, pelo que segue. Os internos são “levados para fora” quando alguém contempla com os olhos do corpo o céu astral e pensa então no Reino do Senhor. Todas as vezes que o homem vê alguma coisa pelos seus olhos, e que as coisas que ele vê são como se não as visse, mas que por elas ele vê as que pertencem à igreja ou as que pertencem ao céu, ou seja, pensa nelas, então a vista interior (ou de seu espírito, ou alma) é levada para fora. Os olhos mesmos não são propriamente outra coisa senão a vista do espírito mesmo levada para fora, sobretudo, com o fim de que, pelos externos, ele veja os internos, isto é, a fim de que, pelos objetos que o cercam no mundo, ele reflita continuamente sobre as coisas que estão na outra vida, porque é para essa vida lá que ele vive no mundo; tal foi a vista da Antiquíssima Igreja, tal é a vista dos anjos no homem e tal foi a vista do Senhor.

8792. 'Jehovah will come down before the eyes of all the people' means, the coming of the Lord will occur, and enlightenment at that time. This is clear from the meaning of 'coming down', when said of Jehovah, that is, the Lord, as His presence through influx, thus His coming - the coming of the Lord being meant here by Jehovah's coming down before the eyes of all the people. Jehovah appeared in an outward form before those people because they could not perceive His presence in any other way; for they were inwardly devoid of the goodness and truth in which the Lord is present with others, 8787. Enlightenment at that time is meant by 'before the eyes of all the people', for 'the eye' in the internal sense is the understanding, and consequently the sight of the eye is the perception belonging to faith, which owes its existence to the light of heaven, so that 'before the eyes' is enlightenment.
