Verse 24. With the like reception of spiritual good and truth conjoined with celestial in each degree of the mind according to its quality, and according to Divine Law;

5754. 'Why does my lord speak such words as these?' means reflection as to why such a thing flows in. This is clear from the meaning of 'speaking' as flowing in, and from the meaning of 'such words as these' as that thing or such a thing, dealt with just above in 5752. 'Why', a word used when asking oneself a question, implies reflection.
