4479. 'These men are at peace with us' means agreement, in this case in matters of doctrine. This is clear from the meaning of 'men' as truths, dealt with in 3134, and consequently as matters of doctrine also since the truths of the Church, when gathered together into one and acknowledged, are called matters of doctrine; and from the meaning of 'those at peace' as their being in agreement, for in the spiritual sense people are called 'those at peace' who agree with one another in the matters of doctrine and the dogmas of the Church.
