And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, who are gone down to the grave, with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
7292. 'Take your rod and throw it down in front of Pharaoh' means power which is demonstrated. This is clear from the meaning of 'rod' as power, dealt with in 4013, 4015, 4876, 4936, 6947, 7011, 7026; and from the meaning of 'throwing down in front of Pharaoh' as demonstrating, for what is thrown down before people's eyes is being demonstrated.
'Sides of the north,' as in Ezekiel 38:6, means perverted doctrinal ideas. 'Sides' signify the interior or middle between the inmost and the extremes. 'Sides of the earth,' as in Jeremiah 6:22, means what is remote from goods. 'Sides,' as in Numbers 33:55, mean aspects of charity, and as a result, goods.
